Russell has over 37 years in legal experience in Ohio and Florida where he has both a local and national client base. He also serves as outside General Counsel for several clients who own large Commercial Real Estate shopping centers both locally and nationally.
Primary practice areas include personal injury and all facets of real estate law. This includes a high volume of landlord-tenant law representing both landlords and tenants in residential, commercial, and multifamily leases. Russell also practices in all areas of mortgage banking including lending, loan servicing and financing. Russell also represents financial institutions within bank regulatory and compliance matters. He also represents national creditors within general creditor’s rights enforcement, complex multi-state litigation, foreclosure, and commercial litigation. Russell has handled hundreds of Arbitrations, Mediations, and ADR proceedings as well as serving as a private and public Mediator.
Russell also practices corporate law, legal entity formation, employment law, severance agreements, small business startups and general small business representation. Russell helps new businesses get started and provides detailed representation for new businesses and businesses that are expanding and need help with corporate governance.
Before going into private practice Russell Served over 14 years as a senior level Executive Officer, General Counsel and SVP, for financial institutions that were subsidiaries of US Bank, National City Bank and PNC. Russell was also a shareholder for 7 years in a large national law firm as a member of the firm’s corporate and business departments.
For over 30 years Russell has been a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education Seminars across the country on a wide range of subjects. This includes Ethics, Creditors Rights, Real Estate litigation, General Compliance and importantly on changes to the law within his practice areas. Emphasis added on new best practices and litigation avoidance.
Russell’s formal teaching experience includes:
2015-2021 Adjunct Faculty Member-Visiting Professor, Lake Erie College Parker MBA Program, teaching Business Law, Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility.
2021 Adjunct Faculty Notre Dame College (Ohio) teaching Business and Sports Law.
